The Lahore High Court has ordered that a petition challenging the Supreme Court Practice and Procedure Ordinance be scheduled for hearing.
During the session, Justice Faisal Zaman Khan addressed objections raised by the Registrar’s office regarding the petition. He rejected these objections, stating that the case should proceed to a hearing.
Justice Zaman expressed frustration over the unnecessary objections, questioning the staff of the Registrar’s office about their rationale. “What objection is this? The federal government has issued an ordinance; it can be challenged anywhere,” he said.
He also urged the Registrar’s office to avoid raising trivial objections in the future.
The Registrar’s office had previously objected to the petition filed by citizen Munir Ahmed, claiming it should have been submitted to the Islamabad High Court instead of the Lahore High Court.
