Lt. Gen. (R) Faiz Hameed Faces Formal Charges in Court Martial Proceedings

Former ISI chief Lt. Gen. (R) Faiz Hameed is now formally charged as the court martial proceedings against him progress to the next stage.

The Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) revealed that the trial under the Pakistan Army Act began on August 12, 2024. As part of the latest developments, specific charges have been filed against the retired general.

The allegations include engaging in political activities, breaching the Official Secrets Act, compromising state security, misusing authority and resources, and causing undue harm to individuals.

Additionally, a separate inquiry is investigating his suspected involvement in violent unrest, including the events of May 9. This probe aims to determine his connection with political forces allegedly orchestrating these incidents.

The military assured that Lt. Gen. (R) Faiz Hameed will be granted all legal rights and protections during the court martial process, in accordance with the law.
