Makkah Hosts 10th International Military Quran Memorization Competition with 179 Participants from 32 Countries
The 10th International Military Quran Memorization Competition has commenced in Makkah, under the patronage of Saudi Defense Minister Prince Khalid bin Salman bin Abdulaziz. The event was officially inaugurated by Saudi Chief of Army Staff, General Fayyad bin Hamed Al-Ruwaili.
According to Saudi Press Agency (SPA), the prestigious competition has drawn 179 participants from 32 countries, all of whom are military personnel engaged in the memorization and recitation of the Holy Quran.
A Sacred Gathering of Military Quran Reciters
The opening ceremony began with a recitation of the Holy Quran, followed by an address from Brigadier Dr. Musfer Al-Essa, Director General of Religious Affairs for the Armed Forces and the competition’s supervisor. He highlighted the importance of Quranic memorization among military personnel and the significance of such competitions in fostering spiritual discipline and devotion.
A documentary film showcasing the history and impact of the competition was also presented to the attendees, providing insights into previous editions of the event.
Competition Structure and Categories
The competition will be held in six categories, allowing participants to showcase their expertise in:
✅ Complete Quran memorization with Tajweed
✅ Memorization of 20 Juz (parts)
✅ Memorization of 10 Juz
✅ Memorization of 5 Juz
✅ Memorization of 3 Juz
Prominent figures, including Sheikh Abdul Rahman bin Abdulaziz Al-Hussaini, advisor to the Army Chief, and Brigadier Saleh Al-Omari, Director of Religious Affairs for the Land Forces, attended the ceremony, along with other senior officials.
This international event not only promotes Quranic learning but also strengthens the religious and moral values among military personnel worldwide. The competition reflects Saudi Arabia’s commitment to preserving and spreading the teachings of the Holy Quran at a global level.
