Report By Safarti Tarjuman International Desk
An explosion at Shahid Rajaee Port in Bandar Abbas, southern Iran, has left at least 300 people injured, according to reports from state media on Saturday.
Local emergency officials confirmed that dozens of victims were transported to nearby hospitals for urgent medical care. Video footage aired by Islamic Republic of Iran Broadcasting News (IRIBNEWS) showed dense black smoke rising over the port area following the blast.
The National Iranian Oil Refining and Distribution Company stated that the explosion did not impact critical infrastructure, including refineries, fuel tanks, oil pipelines, or distribution complexes. It further assured that operations at oil facilities in the area continue without disruption.
Rescue operations were launched immediately, with firefighting teams and emergency responders deployed across the site. The Ports and Maritime Organization is coordinating ongoing relief efforts to contain the situation.
Iran’s Interior Minister Eskandar Momeni held an emergency call with Hormozgan Province Governor Mohammad Ashouri to receive a preliminary report. The minister ordered a full investigation and dispatched the head of the Crisis Management Organization to Bandar Abbas to lead the response.
Authorities emphasized that rescue units remain fully mobilized, and necessary precautions are in place to prevent further risks in the port and surrounding areas.
The cause of the explosion is under investigation.
