Mohammad Al-Bashir Appointed to Lead Interim Government in Syria

Mohammad Al-Bashir has been officially tasked with forming Syria’s interim government as part of efforts to stabilize the country and ensure an orderly transfer of power, Syrian media reported.

The decision was confirmed during a meeting between Ahmed Al-Sharaa, Commander of Military Operations, Interim Prime Minister Mohammad Al-Jallali, and Salvation Government leader Mohammad Al-Bashir. The talks focused on transition arrangements and measures to prevent the nation from plunging further into turmoil.

In parallel with the political developments, signs of normalcy are emerging in Damascus. Armed factions have lifted daytime curfews, and banks have reopened under new directives, signaling progress toward restoring routine life in the capital.

Al-Bashir’s profile reflects a blend of technical, administrative, and legal expertise. Born in 1983 in Jabal Al-Zawiya, Idlib, he graduated in Electrical and Electronic Engineering from Aleppo University in 2007. His career includes leadership roles at the Syrian Gas Company and the Ministry of Religious Affairs, where he directed education and training initiatives.

In 2021, he earned a degree in Sharia and Law from Idlib University and certifications in planning and organizational management. His tenure as Minister of Development and Humanitarian Affairs for the Salvation Government in 2022 and 2023 positioned him as a key figure in rebuilding efforts.

Mohammad Al-Bashir’s appointment comes at a crucial juncture for Syria.
