Charge d’affaires of the Chinese Embassy, Shi Yuanqiang, emphasized that mutually beneficial cooperation across various sectors will further solidify the strategic relationship between China and Pakistan.

Speaking at a Chinese New Year celebration event, Shi highlighted that high-quality mutual cooperation has laid a strong foundation for the continued development of China-Pakistan relations.

In 2024, both nations witnessed frequent high-level exchanges, including successful mutual visits by their respective Prime Ministers. Shi noted that the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) has entered a new phase, transitioning from foundational development to an “upgraded version” with enhanced collaboration and deeper integration.

Strengthening Bilateral Ties

Shi acknowledged the contributions of the Chinese community in Pakistan, commending their efforts in diverse sectors. He praised their role in fostering deeper economic, cultural, and technological collaboration, as well as their active participation in infrastructure projects and social initiatives.

At the beginning of 2025, President of Pakistan paid a state visit to China from February 4-8 at the invitation of President Xi Jinping. This visit, Shi noted, holds historical significance as it coincides with the 10th anniversary of President Xi’s landmark visit to Pakistan in 2015, further strengthening all-weather strategic cooperation between the two nations.

Future Prospects for China-Pakistan Relations

Looking ahead, Shi reiterated China’s commitment to advancing modernization, promoting high-quality development, and deepening global partnerships under the 14th Five-Year Plan.

He expressed confidence that China-Pakistan relations would continue to thrive, urging Chinese expatriates in Pakistan to act as cultural ambassadors and economic bridge-builders. He encouraged further cooperation in trade, science and technology, and cultural exchanges to strengthen bilateral ties.

New Year Wishes and Celebration

As the Chinese New Year approaches, Shi extended his greetings to overseas Chinese, employees of Chinese enterprises, and Chinese students residing in Pakistan. He wished them prosperity, good health, and success in the Year of the Snake, emphasizing the festival’s importance in fostering unity and renewal.

China and Pakistan’s deep-rooted friendship continues to evolve, driven by shared goals of economic growth, regional stability, and strategic collaboration. The future holds great promise for both nations as they embark on new initiatives and reinforce their historic bond.
