MWL Chief Dr. Al-Issa Meets Top French Officials During Official Visit to Paris
Sheikh Dr. Mohammed bin Abdulkarim Al-Issa, Secretary-General of the Muslim World League (MWL) and Chairman of the Organization of Muslim Scholars, held a series of high-profile meetings with key French government officials during his official visit to France.
During his stay, Dr. Al-Issa welcomed Mr. Bruno Retailleau, France’s Minister of the Interior, for a comprehensive exchange of views at his Paris residence. Their discussion focused on strengthening cooperation in areas of shared interest and fostering greater understanding between cultural and religious communities.
The visit, conducted at the invitation of major global academic and intellectual institutions, included thoughtful discussions around widely debated religious and intellectual matters. Dr. Al-Issa emphasized the importance of correcting misconceptions and promoting balanced interpretations that align with the values of peace and coexistence.
In a separate engagement, French Minister of Justice, Mr. Gérald Darmanin, hosted a luncheon at the Ministry of Justice in honor of Dr. Al-Issa. Their dialogue highlighted Minister Darmanin’s ongoing efforts in supporting intellectual diversity and his pivotal role in religious affairs within France and the broader Francophone world.
Further strengthening bilateral dialogue, Ms. Aurore Bergé, French Minister for Gender Equality and the Fight Against Discrimination, visited Dr. Al-Issa at his residence. Their meeting addressed a range of issues related to equality, social inclusion, and shared goals in combating all forms of discrimination.
Dr. Al-Issa also met with Mr. Jean-Noël Barrot, Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs, at the Foreign Ministry’s headquarters in Paris. Their discussions explored key topics of regional and global importance, underscoring the need for collaborative efforts to promote peace, tolerance, and strategic cooperation.
These engagements reaffirm the MWL’s mission to build bridges across cultures, foster respectful dialogue, and counter extremism through informed understanding and mutual respect.
