MWL Chief Mourns Pope Francis, Praises Efforts to Strengthen Interfaith Harmony
In a heartfelt message of condolence, His Excellency Sheikh Dr. Mohammed Al-Issa, Secretary-General of the Muslim World League (MWL) and Chairman of the Organization of Muslim Scholars, paid tribute to the late Pope Francis, praising his lasting legacy in promoting dialogue and peace between faiths.
“Pope Francis was a voice of conscience in an increasingly divided world. His commitment to justice, coexistence, and the dignity of all people has left an indelible mark on interfaith history,” Dr. Al-Issa said.
He acknowledged the Pope’s pivotal role in advancing collaboration between the Vatican and the Muslim World League, especially in fostering mutual understanding, cultural respect, and humanitarian cooperation.
The MWL leader also extended condolences to the global Catholic community, noting the deep sorrow felt by many across the world, regardless of faith or background.
Pope Francis, who passed away on April 21 at the age of 88, was widely respected for his efforts to bridge religious divides and champion social justice. His passing has triggered a wave of tributes from religious and political figures globally.
