### Naeem Qasim Takes the Helm of Hezbollah as Interim Leader Following Nasrallah’s Martyrdom
Following the martyrdom of Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah in an Israeli attack, Naeem Qasim has been appointed as the interim head of the organization.
Naeem Qasim, born in 1953 in Kafr Filah, Lebanon, comes from a religious background. He received his religious education from prominent cleric Ayatollah Muhammad Hussein Fadlallah and later earned a bachelor’s degree in chemistry from a Lebanese university.
A significant figure in the 1970s, Qasim was one of the founders of the Muslim Students’ Union and became involved in the Amal Movement during the leadership of Imam Musa Sadr. He served as the head of the Islamic Religious Educational Association from 1974 to 1988.
Before joining Hezbollah’s founding activities, Qasim worked as an advisor for the Al-Mustafa schools. In 1992, he was appointed as the Deputy Secretary-General of Hezbollah. In 2009, he succeeded Mustafa Badr al-Din as the head of the organization’s military operations after the martyrdom of Imad Mughniyeh.
In 2006, Qasim published a book titled *Hezbollah: The Story from Within*. During the launch of the eighth edition of this book on August 1, 2011, he disclosed that “we were offered billions of dollars to disarm in exchange for the reconstruction of southern Lebanon, but we made it clear that we do not need their money and that our resistance will continue, regardless of the consequences.”
