Netanyahu Threatens New Strikes on Houthis and Hamas After Missile Fired from Yemen
Report By Safarti Tarjuman International Desk
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has issued a firm warning of intensified military action against Yemen’s Houthi rebels and Gaza-based Hamas, following a missile launch from Yemen that briefly halted air traffic at Ben Gurion International Airport.
The Israeli military confirmed on Sunday that a missile fired from Yemeni territory fell near the country’s main international airport. As a precaution, flight operations were temporarily suspended, though no injuries or damage were reported.
In a video address released before a key cabinet session, Netanyahu emphasized that Israel will strike the Houthis forcefully, similar to previous operations.
- “We will respond to the Houthis just as we have in the past,” he said.
- “The Israel Defense Forces will increase operations targeting Houthi strongholds in Yemen.”
- “These actions are being coordinated closely with the United States,” he added.
Netanyahu stressed that Israel’s ultimate goal is the complete dismantling of Hamas and the return of hostages held in Gaza.
- “Our foremost mission is the destruction of Hamas and the rescue of our captives,” he stated.
- “Only consistent military pressure can bring about these outcomes.”
He also noted that the evening cabinet meeting would determine the next steps in Gaza, guided by recommendations from senior military officials.
Netanyahu stirred political discussion by claiming that Israel played a key role in destabilizing the Syrian Assad regime and dismantling Hezbollah in Lebanon—assertions that have drawn criticism and sparked debate within Israeli political circles.
