The Netherlands has announced it will arrest Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu if he steps onto Dutch soil, in accordance with the International Criminal Court’s (ICC) ruling.
Foreign Minister Kasper Veldkamp confirmed that the country respects the ICC’s decision and is prepared to enforce it. Veldkamp stated in parliament that Netanyahu, along with former Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Gallant and Hamas leader Mohammad Ziyad Ibrahim—who also face arrest warrants—will be detained if they enter the Netherlands.
The Dutch government has made it clear that it will sever unnecessary ties with Israel due to the involvement of its top officials in alleged war crimes and crimes against humanity in Gaza. Veldkamp also reiterated the Netherlands’ commitment to the principles of the Rome Statute, which governs the ICC’s jurisdiction.
