NUML Turkish Department Marks 110th Çanakkale Victory with Commemorative Event
The Turkish Department of the National University of Modern Languages (NUML) hosted a special event on Tuesday to commemorate Turkiye’s 110th Çanakkale Victory and the official adoption of the Turkish National Anthem.
The event was attended by Ambassador of Turkiye to Pakistan, Irfan Neziroglu, who served as the Chief Guest, alongside Brig Shahzad Munir, DG NUML, the Education Attaché, and senior officials from the Turkish Embassy, highlighting the enduring ties between the two nations.
During the event, Ambassador Neziroglu and Rector NUML, Maj Gen Shahid Mahmood Kayani HI(M) (Retd.), held discussions on strengthening academic and research collaborations. The Rector acknowledged the support of the Turkish government and Düzce University, emphasizing their role in enhancing academic exchanges and knowledge-sharing initiatives.
The ceremony featured a documentary on the heroic legacy of Çanakkale’s victory, student and faculty performances, and a keynote speech by Ambassador Neziroglu, who praised renowned poet Allama Iqbal and reiterated Turkiye’s unwavering support for Pakistan on all global platforms.
The ambassador also announced plans to expand student exchange programs, reaffirming Turkiye’s commitment to welcoming more NUML students to Turkish universities. “Together, we stand strong,” he declared, urging students to play a vital role in shaping Pakistan, Turkiye, and the broader Muslim world.
Pro-Rector Academics, Dr. Safeer Awan, thanked the Turkish delegation for gracing the event and stressed the importance of preserving historical narratives while fostering academic excellence. He presented a commemorative shield to Ambassador Neziroglu, symbolizing the enduring friendship and academic partnership between the two countries.
The commemorative event at NUML underscored the university’s commitment to cultural exchange and global learning, further solidifying the deep-rooted bond between Pakistan and Turkiye.
