Over 21,000 Syrian Refugees Flee to Lebanon Amid Violent Clashes – UN
The United Nations has reported that ongoing violent clashes in western coastal regions of Syria have forced over 21,000 Syrian refugees to flee into Lebanon.
According to the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR), data from Lebanese authorities and the Red Cross indicates a significant surge in daily arrivals of Syrian refugees since the start of March 2025, following intensified hostilities in the region.
Local sources also reveal that a growing number of Alawite residents from Syrian coastal towns and villages are being displaced due to the ongoing conflict. Experts warn that the increasing influx of refugees could worsen Lebanon’s already strained refugee crisis, as the country is already home to millions of displaced Syrians.
The UN and global humanitarian organizations have expressed deep concern over the worsening situation, urging the international community to accelerate humanitarian aid and relief efforts to support those affected.
