Pak Embassy in Brussels Organizes EU TRACES Training Session
The Pakistan Embassy in Brussels, in collaboration with the Ministry of Commerce, organized a comprehensive training session on the European Union’s digital Trade Control and Expert System (TRACES).
The session brought together officials from various government regulators and support organizations, including the Ministry of National Food Security and Research, Ministry of Maritime Affairs, Animal Quarantine Department (AQD), Marine Fisheries Department, and the Trade Development Authority of Pakistan.
EU experts from the Directorate General of Health and Food Safety (SANTE) guided participants on the functionalities of TRACES, emphasizing its critical role in ensuring transparent and paperless compliance with international food safety standards, according to an official press release.
Omar Hameed, Economic Minister at Pakistan’s Embassy in Brussels, expressed gratitude to DG SANTE officials. He highlighted the importance of continued collaboration between Pakistani authorities and the European Commission to support traders and ensure seamless compliance with EU regulations.
TRACES is an official online platform used for issuing animal and plant health certifications necessary for importing animals, animal products, food, feed of non-animal origin, and plants into the EU.
Used by over 90 countries and boasting more than 113,000 users worldwide, the platform streamlines the issuance of sanitary and phytosanitary certificates and other official documents, enabling a fully digitized, paperless workflow.
