Welcoming the Kyrgyz Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers, Baisalov Edil Zholdybaevich, the minister reaffirmed Pakistan’s dedication to transforming existing relations into a more robust and strategic economic partnership.

“Our trade and economic relations with Kyrgyzstan form the cornerstone of a deeper regional alliance,” Leghari stated during his address.

Despite the strong diplomatic ties, trade between the two nations has declined, dropping from USD 11.2 million in 2022–23 to just USD 5.18 million in 2024–25.

“We must reinvigorate our trade linkages and reach the USD 100 million milestone through joint efforts and policy reforms,” he noted.

During the session, both delegations discussed expanding collaboration in:

  • Energy and infrastructure
  • Trade and logistics
  • Tourism and agriculture
  • Science, technology, and education

Kyrgyzstan’s offer of access to the At-Bashi Logistics Center for Pakistan’s National Logistics Corporation (NLC) was praised as a promising example of enterprise-level cooperation.

Leghari also highlighted plans to explore Pakistan’s participation in the proposed 500 kV Torugart–XUAR–Gilgit Baltistan electricity transmission line, which would integrate energy systems across Kyrgyzstan, China, and Pakistan, supporting the vision of a regional green energy corridor.

The 5th Inter-Governmental Commission concluded with a shared commitment to turn strategic visions into measurable outcomes.

“This commission offers a real opportunity to translate our shared goals into concrete progress,” Leghari concluded, emphasizing mutual benefit and long-term regional growth.
