Pakistan and Belarus Sign Agreements on Energy, Trade, and Education

Pakistan and Belarus have signed multiple agreements and Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) aimed at strengthening cooperation in various sectors, including energy, agriculture, trade, education, and technology.

A formal welcome ceremony was held on Tuesday at the Prime Minister’s House in honor of Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko. Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif warmly received the visiting dignitary, followed by an impressive Guard of Honor presented by a smartly turned-out contingent of the armed forces.

The agreements signed during the ceremony include:

  • E-commerce Cooperation: Between Pakistan’s Ministry of Commerce and Belarus’s Antimonopoly Regulation Ministry.
  • Science and Technology: Collaboration between the Pakistan Council of Scientific and Industrial Research and Belarus’s National Academy of Sciences.
  • Accreditation Services: MoU between the Pakistan National Accreditation Council and Belarus’s Republican Unity Enterprise.
  • Environmental Protection: Agreements between Pakistan’s Ministry of Climate Change and Belarus’s Ministry of Natural Resources.
  • Halal Trade: MoU between Pakistan Halal Authority and Belarus Halal Standardization and Certification Center.

Both leaders also discussed expanding partnerships in education, emergency management, health services, and halal trade. The signing of a roadmap for long-term bilateral cooperation marked a significant milestone in fostering economic and diplomatic ties between the two nations.

Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif highlighted the enduring friendship between Pakistan and Belarus, emphasizing their shared commitment to regional stability and economic growth. President Lukashenko planted a sapling in the lawns of the Prime Minister’s House as a symbolic gesture of strengthening ties.

The agreements reflect a mutual desire to create sustainable partnerships in diverse fields. The discussions underscored the importance of collaborative efforts to ensure mutual prosperity, with both sides committing to the execution of these agreements in the coming months.
