Pakistan and Belarus Sign Strategic Agreements in Energy and Transport Sectors
Pakistan and Belarus have formalized a series of key cooperation agreements focusing on energy, transport, and communications, marking a new phase in bilateral relations between the two countries.
The agreements were signed during a high-level Pakistani delegation’s visit to Minsk, where Federal Minister for Communications Abdul Aleem Khan and Belarusian Energy Minister Denis Moroz signed multiple Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs). These MoUs include joint initiatives in energy infrastructure development, industrial cooperation, and postal services enhancement.
“These agreements set the stage for meaningful partnerships,” said Minister Khan, who also held productive meetings with Belarusian ministers of transport and communications. He emphasized that the goal is to transform earlier discussions into measurable outcomes, particularly in advancing regional transport connectivity and sustainable energy projects.
Belarusian Energy Minister Denis Moroz reaffirmed his country’s commitment to strengthening ties with Pakistan. He expressed optimism that the newly signed agreements would lead to concrete developments across various sectors in the coming months.
The Pakistani delegation included senior representatives from the State Bank of Pakistan, as well as the ministries of communications, economic affairs, and commerce. During the visit, both sides explored avenues to boost bilateral trade and investment, and finalized arrangements for Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s upcoming visit to Belarus.
The recent agreements come ahead of a scheduled visit by the President of Belarus to Pakistan in November 2024, signaling a continued trajectory of diplomatic and economic engagement.
Minister Khan described the MoUs as a “solid foundation for long-term cooperation,” calling for immediate action on transport corridor development to enhance regional trade and connectivity.
The strategic collaboration is expected to unlock new opportunities for economic growth, infrastructure development, and stronger diplomatic ties between Pakistan and Belarus.
