ISLAMABAD: Pakistan and China have reaffirmed their commitment to expanding cooperation in culture, tourism, and heritage through a series of strategic agreements signed in Beijing on Sunday.
Pakistan’s Minister for Culture, Tourism, and Heritage, Huzaifa Rehman, met with Chinese Minister of Culture and Tourism, Gao Zheng, to discuss a robust roadmap for advancing cultural diplomacy and preserving shared heritage.
According to an official press release on Sunday, the meeting resulted in agreements on several key initiatives, including:
✅ Heritage Restoration: Joint projects for the restoration, preservation, and digital documentation of historic sites in both nations.
✅ Museums and Cultural Exchanges: Strengthening museum partnerships and launching cultural delegations, art exhibitions, and film festivals.
✅ Training Programs: Enhancing skills through professional training and capacity-building for museum professionals.
✅ Tourism Promotion: Rolling out joint tourism campaigns and policy frameworks to boost visitor flows and cultural exploration.
Minister Gao Zheng also extended an invitation for Minister Rehman to attend the International Museum Conference scheduled in China this September, which he gratefully accepted.
Rehman further thanked President Xi Jinping and the Chinese government for their consistent support and close cooperation, particularly in culture and tourism.
This landmark meeting sets a concrete path for stronger bilateral engagement, providing a strategic vision for cultural diplomacy, tourism growth, and shared heritage preservation between Pakistan and China.
