Pakistan and China Sign Three MoUs in Renewable Energy, Cement, and Fertilizer Sectors
Pakistan and China have signed three Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) aimed at boosting collaboration in renewable energy, cement production, and fertilizer manufacturing. The agreements were formalized in a ceremony attended by President Asif Ali Zardari, Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar, and Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah.
The first MoU was signed between Thatta Cement Company of Pakistan and China’s Zhonggang Construction Group. The agreement will facilitate the establishment of an additional production line at Thatta Cement, increasing cement output by 5,000 tons per day using locally sourced Pakistani coal.
The second MoU, between Sindh Energy Department and China’s Ming Yang Renewable Energy Company, aims to enhance cooperation in renewable energy projects across Pakistan. This initiative supports Pakistan’s efforts to achieve carbon peaking, carbon neutrality, and emission reduction goals while expanding clean energy solutions.
The third MoU involves the Sindh government and Meskay Femtee CG&M, a Chinese company, in setting up a coal gasification and urea production plant. This project is expected to address Pakistan’s fertilizer demand by utilizing coal gasification technology for urea manufacturing.
