
Pakistan and Iran Target $10 Billion Trade Growth | PM Shehbaz Highlights Economic Vision

Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif has announced an ambitious plan to raise Pakistan-Iran bilateral trade from the current $3 billion to $10 billion in the next few years. His comments came during an interview with Iran’s official news agency IRNA ahead of his official visit to Tehran.
He emphasized that both countries had seen noticeable trade growth over the past few years, and now aimed to enhance economic cooperation through sustained partnerships.
Highlighting the importance of regional development, Shehbaz Sharif pointed out the strategic connection between Pakistan’s Balochistan and Iran’s Sistan-Baluchestan, two provinces that share a nearly 900-kilometer border.
“Stronger economic ties between these regions will not only improve trade but also help fight terrorism and promote peace,” he added.
He noted that several memorandums of understanding (MoUs) have been signed to launch development projects across the border areas.
The Prime Minister said his visit was also aimed at expressing gratitude to Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian for Iran’s diplomatic support during Pakistan’s recent conflict with India.
“Iran supported us when India imposed war on Pakistan. Iran even offered mediation, which we accepted, though India refused. We thank Iran’s leadership for standing with us,” he stated.
Shehbaz Sharif reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to Peace and justice require fair solutions to the issues of Kashmir and Palestine, in line with the aspirations of their people.
Addressing the Iran-U.S. negotiations, the Prime Minister stressed that diplomacy remains the best path for resolving global conflicts.
“Pakistan supports peaceful dialogue. We hope Iran’s leadership will succeed in securing peace and stability in the region.
He concluded by praising Iran’s wisdom and sincerity in its role as a regional peace partner and welcomed stronger bilateral ties for the benefit of both nations.
