Pakistan and Jordan Advance Strategic Dialogue, Pledge Closer Economic and Diplomatic Cooperation
Pakistan and Jordan reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening bilateral ties during the second round of Bilateral Political Consultations (BPC) held in Amman. The discussions highlighted mutual interest in expanding economic collaboration, trade engagement, and people-to-people exchanges, while reinforcing regional cooperation on key international issues.
Representing Pakistan, Foreign Secretary Ambassador Amna Baloch led the delegation, while Ambassador Majed T. Al-Qatarneh, Secretary-General of the Jordanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates, represented the host country.
Shared Vision for Regional Peace and Economic Growth
Ambassador Amna Baloch acknowledged Jordan’s significant humanitarian role in hosting displaced populations from Palestine, Syria, and other conflict-affected areas. She commended Jordan’s efforts to promote peace and security in the Middle East and recognized its proactive stance in global forums against terrorism and extremism.
During the session, Pakistan voiced deep concern over ongoing violence in Gaza, particularly the recent escalation of Israeli military actions. Ambassador Baloch reiterated Pakistan’s steadfast support for the Palestinian cause, advocating for a sovereign and independent Palestinian state with pre-1967 borders and Al-Quds Al-Sharif as its capital.
Bilateral Synergy and International Coordination
Both sides appreciated their alignment on major international issues and emphasized their close coordination at the United Nations and other multilateral institutions.
Roadmap for Future Engagement
The two countries agreed to expand cooperation in areas including economic development, trade, education, and cultural exchange. It was mutually decided that the third round of consultations would be hosted by Pakistan on dates to be finalized through diplomatic channels.
