Pakistan and Kazakhstan Deepen Bilateral Ties Through Road Naming and Joint Development Projects

Pakistan and Kazakhstan have agreed to take symbolic and practical steps to reinforce their diplomatic relations, including naming roads in each other’s capitals and launching joint development projects, the Capital Development Authority (CDA) confirmed on Tuesday.

In a meeting held in Islamabad between CDA Chairman Muhammad Ali Randhawa and Kazakhstan’s Ambassador Yerzhan Kistafin, both sides agreed to name a major road in Astana after Pakistan’s founding father, Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah. In return, a prominent road in Islamabad will be named after Kazakhstan’s national poet, Abai Qunanbauly.

The road-naming ceremonies are scheduled to take place during the upcoming visit of the President of Kazakhstan to Pakistan, symbolizing a new chapter in bilateral ties rooted in cultural and historical respect.

Ambassador Kistafin lauded CDA’s development initiatives and reaffirmed Kazakhstan’s interest in strengthening cooperation with Pakistan in key sectors such as economy, tourism, and trade. “We appreciate CDA’s efforts in enhancing Islamabad’s urban landscape and remain committed to expanding our economic and cultural engagement,” the ambassador stated.

The meeting also focused on several planned joint ventures, including the establishment of a modern slaughterhouse, a Business Facilitation Center, and a state-of-the-art football stadium in the federal capital.

Chairman Randhawa emphasized the need to enhance business and cultural linkages between the two nations. “Pakistan values its brotherly relationship with Kazakhstan and looks forward to elevating cooperation through mutual development,” Randhawa said.

To ensure seamless execution of shared initiatives, both parties agreed to designate focal persons for continuous coordination.

Ambassador Kistafin also extended an invitation to Chairman Randhawa to visit Astana for further discussions aimed at expanding bilateral cooperation.

The session concluded with an exchange of commemorative souvenirs and a reaffirmation of the sister-city agreement originally signed between Islamabad and Astana in 2004, signaling enduring collaboration between the two countries.
