Pakistan Announces Squad for Physical Disability Champions Trophy 2025
The Pakistan Physical Disability Cricket Association (PPDCA) has unveiled its 16-member squad for the upcoming Physical Disability Champions Trophy 2025, set to take place in Colombo, Sri Lanka, from January 12 to 21.
The announcement, made by PPDCA General Secretary Amiruddin Ansari after approval from President Imran Balwani, marks a significant milestone for Pakistan’s disability cricket.
The squad, led by Abdullah Ijaz as captain and Ghulam Muhammad as vice-captain, includes a blend of experienced players and promising newcomers. Of the 16 players, nine are debutants, selected for their exceptional performances at the domestic level.
“The selection process was rigorous, reflecting the immense talent and competitive spirit of our players,” Ansari remarked.
The team, which departs for Sri Lanka on Thursday, will face arch-rival India in its opening match on January 12.
Head coach Sabih Azhar expressed confidence in the team, calling it a well-balanced side capable of securing the championship. The squad underwent a comprehensive training and fitness camp under Azhar’s supervision, supported by selection committee members Rafey Hashmi and Rao Javaid.
