RAWALPINDI — Pakistan’s Army Chief has vowed decisive action against Indian-backed militant proxies, reaffirming the military’s commitment to national security during the 271st Corps Commanders’ Conference

Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, Chief of Army Staff (COAS), chaired the 271st Corps Commanders’ Conference at General Headquarters (GHQ) in Rawalpindi. The high-level military forum conducted a comprehensive review of internal and external security dynamics, with a particular focus on countering Indian-sponsored militant networks destabilizing the region.

The forum offered prayers (Fateha) for the martyrs of recent terrorist attacks attributed to these proxies. Military leadership emphasized that the sacrifices of Pakistan’s fallen soldiers would not go in vain and that protecting citizens remains the top priority for the armed forces

The commanders unanimously resolved to pursue “decisive and holistic” operations against Indian-backed groups, describing them as proxies advancing New Delhi’s “nefarious agenda” following India’s failures in direct military confrontations. The statement accused India of exploiting groups such as “Fitna Al Khawarij” and “Fitna Al Hindustan” to destabilize Pakistan through covert means.

COAS Munir condemned what he called India’s attempts to offset its military setbacks with “bloc politics,” invoking third-party support to falsely project itself as a regional security provider despite growing disillusionment with its “hegemonic ambitions and Hindutva-driven extremism.”

During the conference, the Army Chief highlighted Pakistan’s recent proactive diplomacy, including high-level visits to Iran, Türkiye, Azerbaijan, Saudi Arabia, the UAE, and a landmark trip to the United States. These engagements, he noted, provided an opportunity to share Pakistan’s perspective on regional and global security challenges.

Commanders also reviewed escalating tensions in the Middle East, Iran’s evolving security posture, and the broader trend toward using force as a policy tool. The forum underscored the need for persistent development of self-reliant defense capabilities and national unity to counter these emerging threats.

The COAS praised the leadership of the Pakistan Navy and Pakistan Air Force for their efforts to strengthen tri-services coordination. The commanders were briefed on the Army’s ongoing modernization initiatives designed to adapt rapidly to the evolving threat spectrum and the changing character of warfare.

In his concluding remarks, General Munir expressed full confidence in the Pakistan Army’s operational readiness to address all challenges across the complete threat spectrum, reaffirming the military’s unwavering commitment to safeguarding national sovereignty.
