Pakistan, Bangladesh Seek Stronger Media and Cultural Ties
Secretary Information and Broadcasting Ambreen Jan met with Bangladesh High Commissioner Iqbal Hussain Khan on Monday to explore avenues for enhanced media collaboration and cultural engagement between the two countries.
During the meeting at the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, both officials emphasized the importance of strengthening historical and cultural connections through media partnerships. Discussions revolved around fostering deeper understanding and promoting shared narratives that reflect the longstanding ties between Pakistan and Bangladesh.
Ambreen Jan highlighted the potential for collaboration between state media entities such as Pakistan Television Corporation, Associated Press of Pakistan, and Radio Pakistan with their Bangladeshi counterparts. She suggested initiatives like joint productions and news exchange programs, which could pave the way for stronger relationships and better communication.
The Secretary also proposed a journalist exchange program, which she said would provide valuable opportunities for media professionals from both countries to understand diverse perspectives and develop more comprehensive narratives.
High Commissioner Iqbal Hussain Khan appreciated Pakistan’s efforts to enhance bilateral cooperation and acknowledged the shared cultural and historical heritage that binds the two nations. He expressed confidence that greater connectivity through media and cultural initiatives would further solidify this bond.
The meeting also addressed the possibility of making Pakistani news and entertainment channels accessible in Bangladesh and organizing cultural events like film festivals and photographic exhibitions to celebrate the diversity of both nations.
