XI’AN, China — Pakistan and China on Tuesday signed a landmark agreement aimed at expanding cooperation in broadcasting and the audio-visual sectors, paving the way for closer collaboration between the two countries’ media industries.

The agreement was signed during the 2nd Television Festival of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) Countries, held in Xi’an, China.

Pakistan’s Federal Secretary for Information and Broadcasting, Ms. Ambreen Jan, and Dong Xin, Vice Minister and member of the Party Group of China’s National Radio and Television Administration (NRTA), signed the document on behalf of their respective governments.

The pact underscores both countries’ commitment to strengthening their strategic partnership through enhanced media cooperation. It aims to facilitate exchanges between Pakistani and Chinese media organizations, enabling joint projects, content sharing, training programs, and technology transfer.

Officials said the agreement would promote the development of high-quality broadcasting content, improve professional skills, and foster greater cultural understanding between the two nations.

The agreement outlines a framework for cooperation in key areas, including joint productions, content exchange, and capacity-building initiatives. Both sides plan to support media professionals with training opportunities to keep pace with technological advancements and industry trends.

The collaboration is also expected to encourage storytelling that reflects the cultural diversity, shared values, and friendship between Pakistan and China, helping audiences in both countries better understand each other’s traditions and modern achievements.

By signing this agreement at an SCO platform, Pakistan and China demonstrated their shared commitment to promoting regional connectivity, cultural exchange, and people-to-people ties.

Officials emphasized that the landmark deal would help strengthen the foundation of their longstanding partnership, contributing not only to media development but also to broader diplomatic and economic cooperation.
