Pakistan Committed to Minority Protection, Calls Out India’s Rights Violations: FO

The Foreign Office (FO) of Pakistan has reaffirmed that the country’s state institutions actively work to protect minority communities as a matter of national policy. In contrast, the FO criticized India for systemic violations against its minorities, accusing the ruling authorities of tacitly enabling such discrimination and violence.

Responding to media queries regarding remarks made by the Indian External Affairs Minister in Lok Sabha and the related discussions on minority rights in Pakistan, the FO spokesperson dismissed India’s claims, stating that New Delhi had no moral ground to advocate for such issues given its own track record.

“India is in no position to champion minority rights, as it remains a serial violator of those very rights,” the spokesperson said in an official statement.

The FO highlighted that India has a well-documented history of promoting hatred, discrimination, and violence against minorities, particularly Muslims. It cited examples including the discriminatory Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA), the destruction of the Babri Mosque in 1992 and the construction of a temple in its place in 2024, the Gujarat massacre of 2002, the Delhi pogrom of 2020, and ongoing mob lynchings under the guise of cow vigilantism.

The spokesperson further noted that minorities in India, including Muslims, continue to face attacks on their places of worship, cultural heritage, and fundamental rights.

Instead of expressing concern for minorities in other countries, the FO urged the Indian government to take concrete steps to ensure the safety, protection, and well-being of its own minority communities.

“It must safeguard their places of worship, cultural heritage, and fundamental rights,” the FO stressed, calling for an end to policies that foster division and oppression.

Pakistan has consistently rejected India’s attempts to deflect attention from its own human rights violations by making baseless accusations against others. The FO reiterated that Pakistan remains committed to upholding the rights of all its citizens, regardless of their religious background, and continues to strengthen legal and institutional frameworks to ensure their safety and well-being.
