Islamabad – Pakistan has forcefully condemned the Israeli Knesset’s recent declaration claiming sovereignty over the occupied West Bank, calling it an illegal and provocative action that violates international law. In a strong statement, Pakistan’s Foreign Office urged the global community to hold Israel accountable for its repeated violations of international norms and United Nations Security Council resolutions.
The Foreign Office described the Israeli parliament’s move as a “blatant breach of international law” and an affront to the rights of the Palestinian people. The statement emphasized that this act reflects Israel’s continuing disregard for international consensus and its attempts to entrench illegal occupation under the guise of legality.
“Such unilateral and inflammatory measures sabotage peace efforts and further destabilize the region. They are designed to solidify illegal occupation and deny Palestinians their fundamental rights,” the statement read.
Pakistan called on the United Nations, particularly the Security Council, to take firm and immediate action against Israel’s violations, adding that these steps cannot and will not change the internationally recognized status of the occupied Palestinian territories, including East Jerusalem.
Reaffirming its longstanding support for the Palestinian cause, Pakistan reiterated its commitment to the establishment of an independent and viable Palestinian state along the pre-1967 borders, with Al-Quds Al-Sharif (Jerusalem), in line with UN resolutions.
The statement came after the Israeli Knesset passed a controversial resolution aimed at extending Israeli law to the West Bank, a move widely viewed as de facto annexation.
The move has triggered global backlash. Countries including Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Jordan, Indonesia, Qatar, Türkiye, Nigeria, and the United Arab Emirates — along with regional bodies such as the Arab League and the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) — issued strong condemnations.
Saudi Arabia’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs described the Israeli move as “provocative and dangerous,” stating it undermines efforts toward achieving peace through a two-state solution.
