Pakistan Cycling Team Departs for Asian Road Championship in Thailand

A 14-member cycling team from Pakistan is on its way to Thailand for the Asian Road Cycling Championship 2025, which will take place from February 7 to 16. The event is set to provide a competitive platform for the cyclists to showcase their skills against the top riders in Asia.

The team, selected by the Pakistan Cycling Federation (PCF), includes six elite cyclists, two officials, and six masters participants. Among these participants, two are female cyclists, highlighting the country’s growing inclusivity in the sport.

Team Composition and Categories

The elite category will feature riders such as Ali Ilyas, Rizwan Usman, Muhammad Shan, and Farman Muhammad. These athletes are expected to lead the charge in the competition.

In the U23 category, Yousaf and Azan Raheed will represent Pakistan, striving to make their mark among younger competitors.

For the Masters category, the team includes seasoned riders like Rabia Gareeb, Zainab Rizwan, Atif Husain Qazi, Danish Naseem, Rehan Hyder, and Umayr Sahlan Masud, each with significant experience in international cycling competitions.

Team Management and Support

The team will be managed by Ishtiaq Mubeen, with Naeem Ahmed handling the technical aspects as the team’s mechanic.

The Pakistan Cycling Federation (PCF), led by President Syed Azhar Ali Shah, has been focused on providing international exposure to Pakistani cyclists. This championship is an excellent opportunity for them to compete against some of Asia’s best riders, gaining experience and improving their skills for future international events.

Goals and Hopes for the Future

The team is aiming for strong performances to continue developing cycling in Pakistan. Shah mentioned, “We are confident that our athletes will perform well in Thailand. This competition is an important step in building a sustainable cycling culture in Pakistan, which will benefit our riders as they aim for larger goals, including the 2028 Olympics.”

The cyclists will have the chance to showcase their training, resilience, and determination as they represent Pakistan on a global stage in one of the most important cycling competitions in the region.
