Pakistan Demands Swift UK Action After Attack on London High Commission

Pakistan has formally demanded that the British government take firm legal measures against those involved in a violent incident outside the Pakistan High Commission in London, which included a stone-throwing attack early Sunday morning.

In a statement issued Tuesday, the High Commission condemned the incident that occurred around 5:18 am on April 27. The attacker, identified by the Metropolitan Police as Ankit Love, reportedly hurled stones and threw saffron-colored paint on the High Commission’s outer wall, breaking several windows and defacing the official nameplate.

UK Metropolitan Police confirmed that Ankit Love was arrested shortly after the attack. Investigations are ongoing, and the suspect’s nationality has yet to be officially disclosed. The Pakistan High Commission has said it is in close contact with local authorities to gather further details.

Officials believe the assault is connected to a hostile protest held on April 25, involving members of the British Indian community, where demonstrators reportedly shouted anti-Pakistan and Islamophobic slogans. That protest resulted in clashes with law enforcement personnel and saw multiple arrests.

“We expect UK authorities to ensure that the individual arrested, along with others involved in Friday’s protest, are prosecuted under British law,” the High Commission said in its statement.

The mission further reminded the UK government of its obligations under the Vienna Convention, which requires host countries to protect the premises and personnel of diplomatic missions.

This is not the first time Pakistan’s diplomatic facilities in the UK have come under threat. The High Commission stressed the urgent need for enhanced security measures to prevent further attacks and safeguard its operations.

Pakistan Seeks Increased Protection

Islamabad has reiterated its demands for:

• Tight security arrangements for Pakistani missions across the UK
• Full adherence to international diplomatic protocols

The concerns were echoed during a recent visit to the High Commission by senior Pakistani officials, who called for an immediate and comprehensive response to the escalating threats.
