ISLAMABAD — Pakistan has issued a strong condemnation of the desecration of the revered Al-Aqsa Mosque by thousands of Israeli settlers, calling it a deliberate provocation intended to inflame religious tensions and destabilize the region.
In a statement issued Monday, Foreign Office Spokesperson Shafqat Ali Khan criticized the storming of the Al-Aqsa compound by Israeli extremists, which included participation from high-ranking Israeli ministers, Knesset members, and other officials under the protection of Israeli occupying forces.
“This reckless intrusion into one of Islam’s holiest sites, accompanied by inflammatory slogans such as ‘the Temple Mount is ours,’ represents a dangerous attempt to provoke global outrage, distort historical facts, and change the internationally recognized status of Al-Aqsa Mosque,” Khan stated.
Shafqat Ali Khan emphasized that these actions are not isolated incidents but form part of Israel’s broader expansionist strategy aimed at undermining peace and stability in the Middle East.
“Such provocations could spark a dangerous cycle of violence and must not be allowed to continue unchecked,” he warned.
The spokesperson urged the international community, particularly the United Nations, to take immediate and concrete steps to:
- Hold Israel accountable for violating international law and humanitarian standards
- Protect the religious sanctity of Al-Aqsa Mosque
- Safeguard the rights of the Palestinian people, including their right to self-determination
Reiterating its principled stance, Pakistan reaffirmed its unwavering support for the establishment of an independent, sovereign, and contiguous Palestinian state based on pre-1967 borders, with Al-Quds Al-Sharif as its capital.
“The world cannot remain silent in the face of such blatant violations of human rights and religious freedoms. These actions defy the UN Charter and numerous UN and OIC resolutions,” Khan added.
