Pakistan Elected to UN Commission on Narcotic Drugs for Four Year Term
Pakistan has been elected to the United Nations Commission on Narcotic Drugs (CND) for a four-year term beginning in 2026 and ending in 2029. The election took place during the session of the UN Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) held in New York.
The Permanent Mission of Pakistan to the United Nations welcomed the outcome and expressed gratitude to the member states of ECOSOC for their confidence and support. The Mission noted that Pakistan’s election to the CND reflects international recognition of the country’s active role and continued commitment to global efforts aimed at combating narcotic drugs.
As a newly elected member, Pakistan aims to contribute meaningfully to the Commission’s mandate of shaping global drug policies, focusing on prevention, treatment, rehabilitation, and international cooperation.
Pakistan has remained actively engaged in global forums addressing drug-related challenges and has consistently advocated for balanced, comprehensive, and cooperative approaches to drug control. The country has been involved in multiple international initiatives targeting the production, trafficking, and abuse of narcotic substances.
