Pakistan, Ethiopia Vow to Deepen Multilateral Partnership for Global Peace and Development

Pakistan and Ethiopia have reaffirmed their commitment to expanding multilateral cooperation in pursuit of shared global objectives, including peace, sustainable development, and economic growth.

This development emerged during a key diplomatic meeting held at the Prime Minister’s Office in Islamabad between Dr. Jemal Beker, Ethiopia’s Special Envoy and Ambassador Extraordinary, and Syed Tariq Fatemi, Special Assistant to the Prime Minister on Foreign Affairs.

The two sides discussed a broad spectrum of bilateral and international priorities, focusing on strengthening collaboration in trade, investment, aviation, technology, and climate resilience. Both countries expressed a strong resolve to align efforts at multilateral forums to support global cooperation and regional integration.

He also briefed Mr. Fatemi on Ethiopia’s ongoing reforms under the visionary “Medemer” philosophy introduced by Prime Minister Dr. Abiy Ahmed. The philosophy emphasizes unity, collective growth, and intergenerational harmony—principles that drive Ethiopia’s development agenda.

Highlighting the significance of Ethiopia’s diplomatic expansion, Dr. Beker noted that the recent establishment of the Ethiopian Embassy in Islamabad reflects a deeper commitment to strategic partnership and people-to-people ties.

On Pakistan’s side, Mr. Fatemi lauded Ethiopia’s proactive role in promoting peace and stability at both regional and international levels. He acknowledged the remarkable progress Ethiopia has made in recent years under PM Abiy Ahmed’s leadership and expressed Pakistan’s readiness to elevate bilateral cooperation across various sectors.

As a gesture of goodwill and mutual respect, Ambassador Beker presented a copy of the book Generation Medemer, authored by PM Abiy Ahmed, to Mr. Fatemi. The book outlines the foundational principles of Ethiopia’s reform vision and serves as a symbol of the shared aspirations between the two nations.

This diplomatic engagement marks another milestone in Pakistan-Ethiopia relations, paving the way for enhanced strategic cooperation, particularly in multilateral diplomacy, sustainable development, and regional connectivity.
