Pakistan Expands Global Diplomatic Presence, Hosts High-Level International Conferences

Report by Syed Farzand Ali

Pakistan has strengthened its diplomatic outreach by successfully hosting multilateral conferences and securing key international partnerships, according to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA). The Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) Council of Heads of Government Summit in Islamabad and Pakistan’s participation in major global forums highlighted the country’s strategic foreign policy approach.

Pakistan’s foreign policy focused on increasing economic and investment ties, particularly through the Special Investment Facilitation Council (SIFC), attracting foreign investments with support from diplomatic missions. The country also secured a non-permanent seat on the United Nations Security Council for 2025-2026, reinforcing its role in global peace initiatives.

Diplomatic efforts remained centered on advocating for the rights of Kashmiris and Palestinians at the United Nations, the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), and other international platforms. The Prime Minister reiterated Pakistan’s position on Jammu & Kashmir at the UNGA, while the Foreign Minister reaffirmed support for the Palestinian cause at the 15th OIC Summit and the D-8 Council of Foreign Ministers.

Humanitarian assistance remained a priority, with Pakistan’s embassies facilitating evacuations during the Kyrgyzstan student crisis and providing aid to victims of boat tragedies in Greece, Morocco, and Libya. The government also launched an online Apostille certificate portal to streamline document legalization for overseas Pakistanis.

Cultural diplomacy efforts included hosting over 50 international events, such as the “Gandhara Symposium,” which promoted Pakistan’s Buddhist heritage and tourism potential. Fashion shows, Qawwali performances, and Pakistan-themed events further enhanced the country’s global image.

Pakistan continues to advance its diplomatic, economic, and humanitarian objectives, reinforcing its commitment to international cooperation and regional stability.
