Pakistan Expels Indian Diplomat Over Alleged Undiplomatic Conduct
Pakistan has declared a staff member of the Indian High Commission in Islamabad as persona non grata, citing involvement in activities that violated diplomatic protocols.
In a formal move on Tuesday, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs summoned the Indian Charge d’Affaires to deliver a strong diplomatic protest. The Indian official was informed that the concerned staff member must depart Pakistan within 24 hours.
“The individual was found engaged in actions inconsistent with his diplomatic status,” the Foreign Office stated in an official press release. “A demarche was issued, making it clear that such behavior will not be tolerated.”
The government did not release further details about the activities that prompted the expulsion. However, such declarations typically relate to violations of the Vienna Convention on Diplomatic Relations, including suspected espionage or interference in internal affairs.
This expulsion marks another episode of heightened tensions between Pakistan and India, whose relations remain strained due to longstanding political and security disputes. Diplomatic expulsions have occurred in the past on both sides, often triggering reciprocal actions.
There has been no immediate comment from the Indian High Commission regarding the incident.
Diplomatic analysts suggest this move could further escalate friction between the two countries unless managed through diplomatic backchannels.
