BASSETERRE: Pakistan’s inaugural High Commissioner to St. Kitts and Nevis, Muhammad Saleem, presented his Letters of Credence to the Governor General of the Federation, Dame Marcella A. Liburd, at an official ceremony held at Government House in Basseterre.
The event marked a historic milestone in Pakistan’s growing engagement with the Caribbean region. High Commissioner Saleem extended warm greetings on behalf of Pakistan’s leadership and people, reaffirming Islamabad’s commitment to fostering strong, forward-looking bilateral relations with the island nation.
Appointed as a non-resident envoy based in Ottawa, Canada, Saleem is Pakistan’s first accredited High Commissioner to the Caribbean island nation, following the establishment of formal diplomatic ties in January 2024.
“Pakistan is fully committed to building a robust and mutually beneficial partnership with St. Kitts and Nevis, spanning political dialogue, trade, investment, education, tourism, and development cooperation,” the high commissioner said.
The presentation of credentials marks Pakistan’s formal entry into bilateral engagement with the Federation of St. Kitts and Nevis, laying the groundwork for a future of closer cooperation and exchange. High Commissioner Saleem emphasized the importance of this new chapter in Pakistan’s foreign policy, particularly its efforts to expand diplomatic outreach in the Caribbean region.
The Governor General, Dame Marcella Liburd, welcomed the High Commissioner and expressed appreciation for Pakistan’s initiative to deepen ties with her country, noting the potential for collaboration across multiple sectors.
