ISLAMABAD — Pakistan has announced it will begin issuing multiple-entry visas valid for one year to Afghan drivers involved in freight transit.
According to an official statement shared by the Pakistani Embassy in Kabul on Friday, the initiative aims to enhance regional trade efficiency and support Afghan transporters engaged in commercial activities between the two nations. The new visa policy replaces the previous system of temporary entry permits, commonly known as “TADs.”
The embassy confirmed that the visa fee for Afghan truck drivers has been set at $100.
Application Requirements
To apply for the one-year visa, Afghan drivers must submit the following documents:
- A passport-sized photograph
- Copy of valid passport
- National ID (Tazkira)
- Temporary acceptance document
- Verification letter from the transport company
- Valid driver’s license
These requirements are designed to ensure transparency and proper verification while facilitating quick processing for eligible applicants.
The decision is expected to strengthen trade ties between Pakistan and Afghanistan by easing logistical barriers at border crossings. The move is part of a broader effort by the Government of Pakistan to improve regional connectivity and support economic integration in South Asia.
By formalizing entry procedures for Afghan freight drivers, Pakistan signals its commitment to a more structured and cooperative border management system, supporting bilateral trade and enhancing trust between the two neighbors.
