Pakistan High Commissioner Presents Letters of Credence to Canadian Governor General

Pakistan’s High Commissioner to Canada, Ambassador Muhammad Saleem, formally presented his Letters of Credence to the Governor General and Commander-in-Chief of Canada, The Right Honourable Mary J. May Simon, during an official ceremony held at Rideau Hall.

Senior officials from Pakistan’s High Commission, including the Consul Generals from Toronto and Montreal, as well as the Trade & Investment Counsellor, attended the prestigious event, according to an official press release.

During his meeting with the Governor General, Ambassador Saleem conveyed warm greetings from Pakistan’s President, Prime Minister, and its people. He emphasized the deep historical ties between Pakistan and Canada, highlighting the potential for enhanced collaboration in key areas of mutual interest, including trade, investment, education, and climate change.

In his remarks following the ceremony, the High Commissioner expressed his commitment to strengthening bilateral relations, stating:

I look forward to working closely with Canadian authorities to deepen our partnership, with a particular focus on economic diplomacy and trade cooperation.”

Ambassador Saleem affirmed that Pakistan’s diplomatic missions in Canada—including the High Commission and the consulates—will continue fostering bilateral engagement through active dialogue, business linkages, and cultural diplomacy.

He also emphasized the significant role played by the Pakistani-Canadian diaspora in strengthening friendly relations between the two nations. He expressed his intent to closely engage with the community, acknowledging their contributions to Canada and their role in bridging ties between both countries.

The ceremony marked an important step toward reinforcing Pakistan-Canada diplomatic relations, with a focus on expanding cooperation across various sectors.
