Beijing- The Pakistan Business and Investment Exchange Conference in Guangzhou has emerged as a vital platform for deepening China-Pakistan economic cooperation, enabling enterprises from both countries to expand trade and investment opportunities.
The event, part of the World Meets GZ – 2025 initiative, was highlighted by Prof. Cheng Xizhong, Senior Research Fellow at the Charhar Institute, who described it as a “full-chain bridge” linking Chinese and Pakistani enterprises through policy interpretation, business matchmaking, and localized implementation support.
According to Prof. Cheng, the conference capitalized on complementary industrial advantages between the two nations. Guangzhou, known as a hub for automobile manufacturing, intelligent equipment, and advanced production technologies, offers opportunities that align with Pakistan’s growing demand for industrial development and modernization.
For Chinese firms aiming to enter the Pakistani market, major challenges include policy barriers, localized operations, and project resource connectivity. The exchange helped address these issues by providing direct policy insights, B2B networking opportunities, and long-term support services. This closed-loop service model reduces risks for investors and fosters smoother cross-border operations.
Beyond formal negotiations, the event emphasized informal exchanges that allowed entrepreneurs to build trust and strengthen relationships. Prof. Cheng stressed that economic cooperation thrives on people-to-people connections, which lay the foundation for sustainable and balanced partnerships.
The conference showcased how cooperation is a mutual endeavor. While Guangzhou enterprises seek opportunities in Pakistan’s markets, Pakistani entrepreneurs are exploring sectors in China such as home furnishings, IT, and new energy vehicles. This reciprocal interest highlights the potential for a diverse and resilient cooperative ecosystem.
Prof. Cheng concluded that the Guangzhou exchange is helping shape a balanced and sustainable model of China-Pakistan cooperation, reinforcing the long-term vision of economic integration under the Belt and Road framework.
