Pakistan, Iran Pledge Closer Cooperation Amid Calls for Gaza Ceasefire at UNGA

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif met Iranian President Dr. Masoud Pezeshkian on Thursday during the 79th session of the United Nations General Assembly, with both leaders reaffirming their commitment to strengthening bilateral relations and fostering regional cooperation.

The two leaders reviewed a wide array of topics, emphasizing the importance of bolstering trade, investment, and cultural ties between Pakistan and Iran. Discussions also focused on improving connectivity and advancing mutually beneficial partnerships.

In a broader context, Prime Minister Sharif reiterated Pakistan’s stance on the Palestine crisis, calling for an immediate humanitarian ceasefire in Gaza and urging an end to Israeli aggression in both Palestine and Lebanon.

The meeting highlighted the enduring partnership between Pakistan and Iran and explored further opportunities for collaboration on regional and global issues.
