
Pakistan, Iran Reaffirm Defence Cooperation and Regional Peace Commitments

ISLAMABAD — Pakistan and Iran have reiterated their mutual commitment to deepening bilateral defence cooperation and working together to ensure lasting peace and stability in the region.
The pledge came during a high-level meeting between Pakistan’s Minister of Defence Khawaja Muhammad Asif and Iran’s Minister of Defence Brigadier General Aziz Nasir-Zadeh, held in Islamabad. The meeting is seen as a significant step in strengthening strategic ties between the two neighboring countries.
Held in the federal capital, the bilateral discussions addressed a wide range of mutual concerns, including regional security dynamics, counter-terrorism collaboration, and prospective defence initiatives between the two neighboring nations.
Minister Khawaja Asif lauded Iran’s consistent diplomatic outreach and emphasized the value of defence diplomacy in tackling shared regional threats and promoting long-term stability.
“Our partnership with Iran is rooted in common security interests and mutual respect,” said Asif. “We believe in collective dialogue to ensure peace and prosperity for our region.”
In response, Brigadier General Aziz Nasir-Zadeh expressed gratitude for Pakistan’s warm reception and stressed Iran’s determination to forge stronger defence and military partnerships with Pakistan. He highlighted the importance of trust-building measures, shared values, and regional solidarity as pillars of future cooperation.
“Iran seeks to develop comprehensive defence ties with Pakistan based on shared goals and mutual respect,” he stated
Concluding the meeting on a constructive note, both ministers expressed optimism about the evolving nature of Pakistan-Iran defence relations. They agreed to continue institutional cooperation and explore new avenues for joint defence projects, military training, and strategic coordination.
This renewed commitment underscores a joint vision to bolster peace, counter extremism, and stabilize the broader region through bilateral coordination and regional partnerships.
