ISLAMABAD — Pakistan and Iran have reaffirmed their mutual commitment to deepening cooperation in key areas including regional peace, economic development, and cultural exchange during a high-level meeting between Iranian President Dr. Masoud Pezeshkian and Pakistani President Asif Ali Zardari at Aiwan-e-Sadr.

The discussions underscored the importance of expanding strategic collaboration amid evolving regional dynamics. Both leaders stressed the urgency of advancing joint diplomatic efforts to promote stability and dialogue across the Middle East and South Asia.

President Zardari welcomed President Pezeshkian with warmth, describing Pakistan-Iran relations as rooted in “brotherhood, shared faith, and mutual respect.” He emphasized that both nations have consistently supported one another and must now pursue even closer cooperation across trade, infrastructure, and energy sectors.

The two leaders discussed current geopolitical challenges and highlighted the need for coordinated action to avoid conflict escalation. President Zardari acknowledged Iran’s longstanding support for regional harmony and its principled positions on global issues.

President Zardari thanked Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei for Iran’s vocal support of the people of Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK), and reiterated Pakistan’s unwavering stance on the issue.

He also strongly condemned the recent unprovoked Israeli aggression against Iran, praising the resilience and unity of the Iranian people during the recent 12-day war.

President Pezeshkian, in response, expressed appreciation for Pakistan’s consistent diplomatic support, particularly during times of conflict. He noted Islamabad’s positive role in calling for de-escalation and peaceful negotiations across the region.
