Pakistan-Italy BPC Highlights Strengthening Bilateral Ties and Future Cooperation
Report by Syed Farzand Ali
The 6th round of Pakistan-Italy Bilateral Political Consultations (BPC) held in Rome reaffirmed the growing strength of bilateral relations and cooperation within the European Union framework.
Led by Pakistan’s Foreign Secretary Amna Baloch and Italy’s Secretary General Ricardo Guariglia, the high-level discussions covered trade, economic collaboration, agriculture, defense, higher education, and people-to-people exchanges.
Both sides expressed satisfaction over the increasing trade volume and emphasized the potential for further expansion. The Bilateral Consular Consultations, recently held in Islamabad, were also positively reviewed.
The delegations acknowledged shared perspectives on key international and regional issues and reaffirmed their commitment to close coordination at the United Nations.
Foreign Secretary Amna Baloch presented an official invitation from Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar to his Italian counterpart for the Second Ministerial Review of the Pakistan-Italy Strategic Engagement Plan in Islamabad this year.
The meeting concluded with an agreement to hold the 7th round of Pakistan-Italy Bilateral Political Consultations in Pakistan next year, further cementing diplomatic and economic ties.
