Pakistan Navy Transfers CTF 150 Command to New Zealand Navy
The Pakistan Navy has officially handed over command of Combined Task Force (CTF) 150 to the Royal New Zealand Navy. Commodore Asim Sohail Malik transferred command to Commodore Rodger Ward in a ceremony held at Naval Support Activity, Bahrain. Vice Admiral George Wikoff, Commander of the Combined Maritime Forces (CMF), was present at the event.
During Pakistan’s tenure from July 2024 to January 2025, CTF 150 conducted multiple maritime security operations. Pakistan Navy and Pakistan Maritime Security Agency also independently intercepted three narcotics-laden dhows, seizing around 10 tonnes of narcotics valued at over $50 million.
Under Pakistan Navy’s leadership, CTF 150 enhanced regional cooperation, bringing in naval forces from Kenya and Oman for joint operations. Commodore Asim Sohail Malik also engaged with key civil and military leaders from Mauritius, Kenya, and Sri Lanka to promote collaboration, information sharing, and best practices in maritime security.
Reflecting on his tenure, Commodore Asim Sohail Malik reaffirmed Pakistan Navy’s commitment to global maritime security, aligning with Pakistan’s foreign policy and the vision of Admiral Naveed Ashraf, Chief of the Naval Staff. He emphasized Pakistan’s active role in CMF and its dedication to maintaining maritime stability.
Incoming Commander Commodore Rodger Ward expressed appreciation for Pakistan Navy’s leadership and operational contributions during its command period.
CTF 150 is one of five task forces under CMF, the world’s largest naval coalition dedicated to ensuring maritime security and stability.
