Pakistan, Oman Strengthen Trade and Investment Ties, Agree on Sector-Specific Cooperation
Pakistan and Oman have reaffirmed their commitment to enhancing bilateral trade, boosting investment opportunities, and strengthening regional connectivity, following a high-level meeting between Pakistan’s Federal Minister for Commerce, Jam Kamal Khan, and Oman’s Minister for Commerce, Industry, and Investment Promotion, Qais Al Yousif in Muscat.
During the discussions, Jam Kamal Khan emphasized Pakistan’s industrial expertise, stating that Oman could leverage Pakistan’s experience and commercial capabilities to support its Vision 2040 economic diversification strategy. He reiterated Pakistan’s commitment to fostering deeper economic and trade relations with Oman.
Qais Al Yousif acknowledged Pakistan’s strategic role in regional trade and highlighted that Pakistan serves as a vital trade gateway to the Central Asian Republics (CARs) due to its historical ties and geographical proximity. He expressed Oman’s interest in expanding economic collaboration and investment opportunities across multiple sectors.
Key Areas of Cooperation
✔ Trade & Investment Growth: Both sides explored strategies to enhance bilateral trade, improve direct transport linkages, and utilize Pakistan as a trade corridor for CARs.
✔ Port Connectivity: Pakistan highlighted the potential of Gwadar and Karachi ports as key regional trade hubs, offering Oman expanded access to emerging markets.
✔ Sector-Specific Cooperation: The discussions focused on textiles, SMEs, agriculture, food security, and manufacturing, with an emphasis on industrial collaboration, joint ventures, and sustainable supply chains.
✔ Oman’s Investment in Pakistan: Pakistan invited Oman to increase investments in its industrial and manufacturing sectors, ensuring stronger economic integration.
The meeting was attended by senior officials from both sides, including representatives from Oman’s Commerce and Industry Ministry, Investment Promotion Authority, and International Cooperation Affairs, as well as Pakistani diplomats and trade officials.
Shared Commitment for Economic Growth
Minister Jam Kamal Khan expressed gratitude for Oman’s hospitality and its dedication to strengthening economic ties with Pakistan. Both ministers reaffirmed their commitment to expanding trade, fostering investment, and unlocking new economic opportunities for mutual benefit.
The meeting concluded with a shared vision to deepen economic cooperation, further cementing Pakistan-Oman relations in trade, commerce, and regional development.
