Pakistan: Over 400 Ashes of Hindu Community Sent for Immersion in Ganga River, India
More than 400 ashes of the Hindu community, which had been preserved for several years, were today sent from Cantonment Station in Karachi to Wagah by train. These ashes are en route to be immersed in the Ganga River in Haridwar, fulfilling a long-standing wish of Pakistani Hindus.
A prayer ceremony was held at Soldier Bazaar before the departure of the ashes. A large group of Hindu men and women gathered for the occasion. Maharaj Shree Ram Nath, the head priest of Shree Panch Mukhi Hanuman Mandir, shared that after an 8-year wait, the ashes would now proceed to Haridwar via Wagah and Delhi, where they will be immersed in the sacred Ganga River. He expressed that the ashes would be warmly received in India.
It’s important to note that during the ongoing 144-year Maha Kumbh Mela in India, the ashes of Pakistani Hindus, which had been stored at the Sonpuri Cremation Ground since 2011, will now be immersed in the Ganga River. The Indian government recently granted visas for this special immersion ceremony.
