Pakistan’s High Commissioner to Singapore, Rabia Shafiq, inaugurated the Pakistan Pavilion at the Singapore Fintech Festival (SFF) 2024 on Thursday, urging Pakistani companies to seize the opportunity to form international partnerships and highlight the nation’s expanding tech capabilities.
Speaking at the event, Shafiq pointed out that Pakistan’s rapidly growing tech talent pool, its strategic location in Asia, and favorable time zone make it an ideal hub for global IT companies. She also praised the involvement of numerous Pakistani firms in the festival, which demonstrates the country’s rising role in the global tech and fintech sectors.
“The government of Pakistan is fully committed to positioning the country as a leading ‘Tech Destination,'” she said. “Through initiatives such as the Special Technology Zones Authority, we are providing the necessary support to bolster Pakistan’s tech industry.”
This year, a delegation of 10 leading Pakistani fintech companies is participating in the festival, signaling Pakistan’s increasing prominence in the global fintech space. Their presence not only connects Pakistan to Singapore’s fintech ecosystem but also aims to establish the country as a key player in the international digital economy.
Among the prominent participants is Hakeem App, a Pakistani fintech firm nominated for the “Fintech Excellence Award 2024” by the Monetary Authority of Singapore. This recognition highlights the growing innovation within Pakistan’s fintech industry.
The Singapore Fintech Festival, one of the world’s largest and most influential events, provides a valuable platform for startups and established companies to showcase their innovations and network with global leaders. Pakistan’s participation underscores its commitment to advancing economic growth through technological innovation, particularly in the financial services sector.
