ISLAMABAD — Pakistan’s junior squash team has booked a spot in the quarter-finals of the 2025 World Junior Squash Team Championship, after defeating Poland 2-0 in a high-pressure pre-quarterfinal clash held in Egypt on Tuesday.
According to the Pakistan Squash Federation, the victory was a testament to the team’s growing dominance and resilience on the international stage.
Pakistan’s campaign was spearheaded by Abdullah Nawaz, who secured a 3-1 win over Jan Samborski. Nawaz dropped the second game but held his nerve to seal the match with game scores of 12-10, 4-11, 11-8, 11-2, putting Pakistan 1-0 ahead in the best-of-three encounter.
In the second match, Anas Ali Shah showcased exceptional grit and mental strength against Franciszek Michniewicz. After trailing two games to one, Anas bounced back in style, ultimately winning a thrilling five-set battle 11-7, 9-11, 10-12, 11-5, 11-3, securing Pakistan’s passage to the quarter-finals.
With this decisive win, Pakistan advances to the quarter-final stage, where they are set to face a formidable English squad on Wednesday. The upcoming match is expected to be one of the tournament’s highlights as both teams vie for a place in the semi-finals.
