Pakistan Ready to Receive Stranded Citizens via Wagah Border Amid Indian Visa Crisis

Pakistan on Friday announced its readiness to receive stranded citizens through the Wagah border, pending clearance from Indian authorities.

Foreign Office spokesperson Shafqat Ali Khan confirmed that the border crossing would remain accessible to Pakistani nationals in the future, especially in light of the humanitarian difficulties caused by India’s cancellation of Pakistani visas.

In response to media inquiries, the spokesperson stated that the Indian government’s move has created serious challenges, including disruptions to medical care and family separations.

“Many patients were forced to return to Pakistan without completing vital treatment,” he said. “We are also receiving reports of families being split and children separated from one of their parents.”

He acknowledged that the last official date for crossing the Wagah-Attari border was April 30, 2025. However, media reports suggest that several Pakistani citizens remain stranded at Attari, awaiting permission to return.

“We are open to receiving our citizens in case the Indian authorities allow them to cross the border from their side,” Shafqat Ali Khan stated.
