Pakistan Reaffirms unwavering Policy Terrorism and Foreign Occupation

Report By Syed Farzand Ali

Pakistan has reiterated its unwavering position on terrorism and foreign occupation, dismissing recent media misinterpretations. The Foreign Office emphasized that the country’s policy remains unchanged, aligning with international consensus on counter-terrorism and the right to self-determination.

In an official statement, the Foreign Office Spokesperson expressed concern over what was termed as a “quaint spin” by certain media outlets, which allegedly distorted Pakistan’s stance on global security issues. The statement clarified that such misrepresentations also misinterpreted the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) and broader international perspectives on terrorism and foreign occupation.

Pakistan’s Stand at the UN Security Council
The UN Security Council briefing on “Security Caused by Terrorist Acts & Threats to International Peace” on Monday. Pakistan’s Permanent Representative stressed the need to address the root causes of terrorism rather than solely focusing on its consequences.

“We must address the root causes of terrorism, which include poverty, injustice, unresolved conflicts, foreign occupation, and the denial of the right to self-determination for people under colonial and foreign domination,” the representative stated. “This applies to occupied territories such as Palestine and Jammu and Kashmir.”

Pakistan’s Counter-Terrorism Policy in Line with Global Strategies
Pakistan and the OIC have consistently advocated for a comprehensive counter-terrorism approach, emphasizing:
✅ Conflict resolution to prevent extremism
✅ Ending foreign occupation and political oppression
✅ Eliminating poverty and promoting economic development
✅ Ensuring human rights and self-determination

This policy aligns with the United Nations General Assembly Resolution 60/288 on the “Global Counter-Terrorism Strategy”, which calls for a multi-faceted response to terrorism.

Furthermore, Pakistan has continuously asserted that any global definition of terrorism must differentiate between acts of terrorism and the legitimate struggles of people under foreign or colonial rule for self-determination and national liberation—a principle strongly upheld by the OIC.
